Road trip in Scotland Part 2: Isle of Skye

In Part 1, we drove all the way from Glasgow to Glenshiel, passing-by the Scottish Highlands and discovered the truth behind Loch Ness. Check it out at:

The main focus of driving north is Isle of Skye, nowadays a major tourist attraction. However, in the past, these island was ruled by the much feared Pictish and Celtics, and the Macleod and Donald clan. Think about the guys in the Mel Gibson's movie Braveheart.

From Glenshiel, you will first spot Eilean Donan castle (13th Century)

The castle is located in a strategic location - in between 3 lakes. Our target was to reach the town of Portree (King's Port) for lunch.

Similar to New Zealand, there are more sheeps than humans

Highland cows too

There was no hurry - We stopped where we wanted

The harbour town of Portree is the biggest town on the island, and it was picturesque.

Rated one to the top 20 most beautiful villages in the UK

It would be an amazing boat ride out

I am not sure it will be cool when it rains

I actually don't mind riding in the Highlands - Most probably need to upgrade my license

Ice cream anyone?

Lunch was good, and I think we made some friends

Wasn't sure what to say - I ate ice cream on a cold day in the Scottish Highlands

From Portree, we went to Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, 15km north of Portree.

The Nissan Qasqai was definitely a good car for the road

You could hike along the coast

If you are a nature lover, this is the place for you

Facing the Norwegian Sea, needless to say, it was cold windy

Had a pleasant drive back to Glenshiel.

Had to check out how these guys are coping

Full respect to these guys camping in the wild. What a life.

To be continued....
